Casa Mariotti

Four siblings from Rome cook their mother's recipes in a heritage terrace: bucatini all'Amatriciana, suppli and maritozzi.

Casa Mariotti is named after a real person: Antonella Mariotti, mother of the four Guerrieri siblings who run the place. Chef Giacomo cooked for more than twenty years in Rome's Trastevere before a decade at the Union Hotel; when the family decided to open together, his brother Guido left a soccer career and sister Giulia a classical dance career in Italy to help launch it, with Guglielmo out front.

The menu stays deliberately short and deliberately Roman. Suppli al telefono arrive with the mozzarella pull the name promises, the bucatini all'Amatriciana is enriched with guanciale fat rather than oil, and the maritozzi con la panna are the cream-stuffed buns Romans queue for at breakfast. Aperitivo runs daily from 4pm to 6pm, and the wine list pairs Italian producers with Victorian winemakers working Italian varieties. From Rome to Richmond, as they say.
