Waygood answers a question most wine bars dodge: why can't you take the bottle home? Half the room is a bottle shop wall of around eighty rotating, mostly local wines curated with Chris Broughton of The European Group. Pick one, pay $25 corkage to drink it in house, or walk out with it under your arm.

The site has good wine bones. This was Saint Urban, and Waygood is owner Martin Pirc reinventing his own venue, with executive chef Nuno Gabriel running a weekly changing, vegetable-forward menu of things like cauliflower schnitzel and ricotta gnocchi. Tuesday Neighbourhood Nights are the sleeper hit: an Ottolenghi-inspired vegetarian banquet for $45 a head, in a room that seats just 45 inside and 16 out.
